Too bad no one is ever really the final word on anything. Whoever names the creek has a momentary pleasure before the next guy steps in. Calvin might just as well write his name in the water; he’s usually all wet anyway..
One of my favorite concepts from Pratchett’s “Discworld” is the explanation that many explorers would point to a landmark and ask a native “What is that?” The native would reply in the local language, and the explorer would diligently write it down. .That’s why so many landmarks, when translated from the hundreds of native languages, are named, “Your finger, you fool.”

I love the innocent look on Hobbes’ face in the last panel: “Well, now who do you suppose put THAT there?”

Well, Calvin still has a chance to name it. Hobbes’s misspelling will only cause confusion.

“Can’t have a country without a flag. That’s a rule… that I… just now made up.” Apparently Hobbes did know about it, though.

Well it looks like Calvin’s handwriting to me. This is a set-up so Calvin can start a fight. Hobbes is totally innocent.!
