I live in Springfield, MO. According to http://www.payphone-directory.org/, there is one pay phone in Springfield (population over 150,000). I could not help to notice that Sedalia, MO (population 20,000) - which is located between Kansas City and Jefferson City - had 90 pay phones!!!! Someone needs to build a cell phone tower up there….
Sedalia is an older city and smaller so it will take longer to update the infrastructure. I bet Jeff City has the most because everyone in the State capitol will want to make sure they can always get in touch with anyone (without anyone finding them!)

I usually don’t take my cell phone with me ‘cause I don’t want to be found…

There’s a few left but not very many.

It’s probably harder to find a pay phone than to go back home and get your own cell phone…

I saw a pay phone outside a hotel in Ocean City, NJ the other day. Didn’t know there were any left either.
