I grew up all over the world (Dad was in the military) and it was a joyous day when I realized I could Street View every place I lived and played as a child. Fun times!!
And it can be a little scary when you realize that, just as you can see what someone’s new house looks like after they send you a change of address, anyone who knows your address can see your house (and yard, and cars in the driveway), whether you want them to or not. I’m thankful it doesn’t show houses in real time — and keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
There’s a site called v-pike that I use for this and it’s fun seeing my old stomping grounds. Though depressing that my former elementary school was razed to the ground and nothing built to replace it.

Can also be depressing when you see places you knew and loved destroyed by rampant, uncontrolled development.
