    Loving the label on the set. In 1949, home sets were rare enough that some readers probably needed that to know what was being depicted. Reminds me of the ubiquitous, relentless labeling in the Dick Tracy strip…. such as the “2-Way Wrist Radio” which was so labelled hundreds of times over the years, until superseded by the 2-Way Wrist TV.

    Three channels if you were lucky. Our local affiliates carried the same 10 Gilligan’s Island reruns, 10 Hogan’s Heroes reruns etc. ad infinitum, to the point that i could recite lines from memory. Between that and the endless soaps, stupid game shows, and “Captain and the Clown”-type local kid’s shows, there was hardly anything worth watching back then either.
