Been there, done that, for maybe the past 30 years!

As the phrase goes, “a place for everything and everything in its place.”

Especially true for stuff you don’t use often.

The safest place for me to put something and be able to find it later is in “the pile”.

I did that with a flashlight. It was impossible to find when the power went out in a storm. Not the best idea I’ve had.

This is why I have multiple copies of my family’s birth certificates. I couldn’t remember where I put the first set and had to order more!

The more careful I am to put something in a safe place, the more likely I am to lose it.

Well, I must have been born a plugger! We live way back of beyond, and there is a flashlight beside the kitchen door, and a kerosene lantern in all of the main rooms. Fortunately, we cook with gas, and have a fireplace. Camped out in the living room more than once.

Look in the safe.

In my case, it has been several years since I wrote a check.

pcolliIf the “pile” is neatly stacked, one can find anything quickly as it is in stratigraphic order.

All the time!!!

My checkbook almost never leaves my home office. If I leave the house to purchase something, it will be with cash or Amex…
