    What towing situation….I guess thats why there no tow cars anymore and strickly tow TRUCKS.

    In thoughs day most tow trucks had hand crank towing booms. A freind of mine has a modle T tow truck, all manuel workings.

    By the time of this cartoon, paved roads would have been the norm, but many readers back then would remember when only the roads around cities and a few intercity toll pikes would be paved.

    In the pre-paving days the government ordered an Army convoy to cross the country as a test of their mobility. The trip took months! The convoy commander was a young officer named Eisenhower who later would help create the Interstate Highway system.
