Rover: How come I can see the moon and it's not even dark yet? Red: I dunno- you have super-duper vision, I guess. Rover: Just how far away is the moon?! Red: It's roughly a quarter of a million miles from earth. Red: Plus, you can also see the stars, and they're really, really far away! Rover: I really do have super-duper vision.

When the moon is full we are basically between the sun and the moon. Sooo one is in front of you and the other is behind you.

You are actually closer to the moon by about 1.5 miles on Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador; even though Mount Everest is some 8,000 plus feet higher…
