Knew it was a pun strip as soon as I opened it.

Meara, Meara on the wall who’s the lamest cartoonist of all?

Warning: puns in Pearls Before Swine appear funnier than in reality. I blame Cartoon-Boy (as always).I liked Stiller and Meara and their comedy routines. I hope this leaves them untarnished!

Lots of people (from Shakespeare on down) love puns. I opened the paper today and it had a headline about a person who had married people without a license. The headline was ‘Frauder of the Bride’.’

It should be: objects in Meara are closer than they appear-a. Anne Meara was the classic Abbie’s Irish Rose to Jerry Stiller. Jerry and Anne lived on the Upper West Side in NYC and were integral parts of their neighborhood, participating in street fairs and so on.

Or as Meat Loaf sang it, “Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are”….To me that addressed how we hold our memories closer than we should. Don’t forget them, just don’t live in the past.Of course, he also said he would do anything for love, but he won’t do that….

Best moment from Jurassic Park is seeing the T-Rex snapping at the Jeep and seeing “Objects in Mirror are Closer Than They Appear.”

Sorry, Pastis. I think you’ve blown it for tribute sculptures. :D

3d is a stupid gimmick and everyone knows it.

I LOVE the puns! Think of the thought and creativity that go into them!

It gets so quiet around here waiting for the daily strip that you can hear a pun drop.

Okay, look. I’m not a pun fan. But this could’ve used an extra panel, maybe been a Sunday strip… You use a full-body sculpture of Anne Meara that has a noticeable derriere. Then the punch line because “Objects in the rear view Meara are closer than they appear.”

And to think Pastis gets paid to write stuff like this …

I enjoy the gags, but s spooky thought, huh?
