A kinder and gentler age, before pranksters started writing “Kick Me!” on the cards they attached to the victim’s back.

“Little Nemo in Indiana” just doesn’t have the same ring.

Don’t worry, this travel series is an anomaly in the Nemo canon. We get back to Slumberland and astounding fantasy very soon now. I actually like this travel series, though. It’s a look at how the early 20th-C. Americans viewed themselves.

It’s got to be Slumberland. Look how clean the buildings are!.I saw Little Nemo in Newark. A museum there had a huge exhibition of original comic art, with Herriman and Segar and Caniff and Grey and Feininger and… so many great pieces of original art on display, drawn once a week for a laughable pittance. McCay’s huge originals were utterly clean of any apparent pencil marks or erasures. The only correction was a pattern of white ink on one that indicates a spilled bottle of black ink underneath.
