Rub his nose in it.

^Doesn’t work. As the trainers say, when your puppy pees or poops inside the only thing you should use the rolled up paper for is to whack yourself in the head for not taking the dog out.

Rubbing does no good!

Those in the know, know no noses or something like that! Anyway, rubbing the nose in the pee doesn’t work. It’s territory marking time.

Just wait until he chews up your sandles.

Poncho as a little pup is pretty cute. Since he speaks English he should be easy to train to do his business outdoors.

I thought when Chaz asked if Poncho needed papers it was referencing Arizona’s “Papers Please” Law. After all Poncho sounds….you know, Mexican.

@ Dave:
Hey, the story arc still has yet to reveal when “Porcho” became “Poncho”.
With Italian pronunciation, “Porcho” becomes “Porko”.
But hey, so as long as you didn’t say something dumb, like: “… you know, from a Mexican country like Ecuador”.

Housebreaking is easy. Dogs locate their bathrooms by smell.
Sop up the stuff on a paper towel, or cloth, take it out to where you want him to go. Deodorize the spot inside.
Then, take the pup out to the place outside and let him smell where it is. Keep returning him to the same place.
He will get the idea really quickly.. Praise him for it when he does..
just remember, little guys have little bladders. If you don’t take him often enough,, he will make mistakes.

i wish my puppy could talk just like Poncho :-)

All puppies know how to talk - Most people don’t pay attention, and/or speak dog. Ellisanna gives good advice, but Chaz is in an apartment - I’d recommend crate training, and maybe an e-pen when Chaz has to go to work, or wherever. Bitter Apple to protect shoes and leashes also helps:)
Great comic strip btw…
