richard's poor almanac - by richard thompson suggested summer reading kid 1: i'm reading my first book of suspicious objects, a lift-the-flap activity book. let's just see what's under this unattended suitcase- kid 2: no woman: i'm engrossed in duck! an in-depth guide to modern life that, with over 14,000 pages & reinforced binding, doubles as a cozy emergency shelter. duck! an in-depth guide to modern life man: these days i need the reassurance & stability that only comics drawn by dead people can provide. style bug: i'm into a lot of erotic litera-ture, ovid's ars amatoria, the kama sutra, venus & adonis by shakespeare, lady chatterly's lover, etc. be-cause in a few weeks i'm gone, man. man 2: i've shelved books by left-wing comedians over there & books by right-wing radio hosts over there. i don't read them, i sit back & watch 'em fight. book 1: moron! book 2: traitor!
