You only lose if the losers (H & D) win. You’ll feel even worse if you vote for someone you don’t like or respect just because the opponent sucks even more.
Johnson says Christian bakers should be compelled to bake cakes for homosexual weddings. Not exactly my idea of a libertarian, indistinguishable from the leftists nominated by the major parties.
Well, the alternative risks allowing people in the south to stop serving African Americans due to their “religious beliefs” and bringing back Jim Crow. The evil of Jim Crow laws is not that they permitted racial discrimination, but that they required it.
I really wish the people wanting a cake had just purchased it elsewhere, instead of suing, because that’s a can of worms that never should have been opened. The purpose of such lawsuits is not to get a cake, but to punish the politically incorrect.I’m old-fashioned enough to subscribe to the notion that the only legitimate function of any government is to secure my God-given rights. If I have a God-given right to force someone else to do business with me, it is not self-evident.
Libertarians are socially liberal and fiscally conservative. So Johnson’s running takes votes away from both Hillary and Donald. If Johnson can get into the debates, while Clinton and Trump are calling each other every name in the book, Johnson will be discussing the real issues…if anyone will listen to him.
Libertarians believe the government shouldn’t spend money it doesn’t have. And Johnson never said anyone should be compelled to bake a cake for anyone (or any two). That’s a Trump generated Pinocchio. Check out factcheck.org
It wasn’t required, but everyone was doing it and if they didn’t, the KKK would come around and burn your shop to the ground.Am I mistaken about Jim Crow laws or are you?
I don’t think that it is morally right to force someone to bake you a wedding cake, anymore then it is okay to force a Jewish deli to serve you bacon, but it doesn’t work for a “when it feels wrong” lawThe reason it doesn’t work is? What’s the difference? Who gets to decide?
If you hold yourself out as serving the public, you serve them all the same. What if you don’t hold yourself out as serving the public? What if you claim to be willing to do business only with those you choose (as any potential customer can do)?The Thirteenth Amendment says:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.Apparently, being declared a “public accommodation” by an anti-discrimination law is tantamount to being duly convicted of a crime.

When they are both bad choices, vote for someone you can respect, even if you don’t think they have a chance.

WaPo reported yesterday that two polls indicated that the two candidates are liked by nobody. So….who the heck voted for these two?

Once the Republican Party disappears into obscurity perhaps only then the Libertarians MIGHT be more relevant

My problem with Johnson is his support of amnesty/a ‘path to citizenship’ for illegal immigrants.
As far as the new deal, I’d love to see Social Security made voluntary. If you want to participate, great. If not, don’t.
