You mean Heaven may be insubstantial women (angels) in long shapeless robes selling me endless Watchtowers while some Scott plays the bagpipes eternally? Knew I should have done more than the Cliff Notes Bible.
Oh well, there will be and endless supply of faces to count.
Really, does that sound like the following to you?
(Revelation 5:8 RSV) And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints;
(Revelation 5:9 RSV) and they sang a new song, saying, âWorthy art thou to take the scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and by thy blood didst ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
(Revelation 5:10 RSV) and hast made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.â
I leave it as an exercise for the student to discover what that reign really entails⊠no boredom therein!
for those of you who havenât heard the song yetâŠ.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei7DySnoKTQ&p=1377764BA831DCEC&playnext=1&index=24âŠ. itâs as good an explanation of things as Iâve heard so far.
Hmmmânot so many faces today. but there may be some cheeky images in the cloudsâŠ
And the lie is that evil is so much more fun and satisfying than good, or being saintly. Just ask a well-married couple if they ever missed adultery, or if rather they enjoyed being in committed love, learning how to better express that love, seeing what they could do for each other over the days and years.
Or ask a sculptor how satisfying it was to create a thing of beauty and meaning, and then ask the vandal how much they got out of destroying it.
Evil, raising hell, may be fun for a moment or two, but it leaves us emptier than before. Good satisfies, and makes us better able to do good things in the future. And holds out the possibility of eternal life (heaven) as well.
