I have one of those from the 1930s.

LOL – Kids these days don’t know what a transistor is. Much less a vacuum tube!!

We used to have a very old radio when I was a kid. I remember it had AM, shortwave, mediumwave, longwave and a few more I can’t remember. I would spend hours listening to radio stations from around the world and could even listen to aircraft and police communications in my area.

The kid needs a little history lesson. Open up that thing and there won’t be a transistor in sight.

….well they weren’t THAT big….

If he starts doing a weird re-wiring job on that radio and hooking it up to a block of ‘D’ cell batteries, run for your life.

We got our first TV in 1960, I was 14 years old. Before that I remember listening to the, Lone Ranger, Gangbusters, Amos & Andy, Burns & Allen and the Cisco Kid on a Radio much like that one. They were funny and exciting, since I hadn’t seen much TV it was All I knew.

That’s a beauty. Hold onto it, keep it working, and someday it will be worth real money.

If he finds another one, he’d have a stereo.
