Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for October 24, 2016

Transcript:
Gracie: I love school! Gracie: I love everything about it! I wish the school day was longer! Baldo: Do you say these things just to irritate me? Gracie: Of course not, Baldo. Gracie: It's just collateral damage.
It’s fairly easy to like school if you’re only 8 or 9 years old. Middle school/junior high is completely different, and just pure hell for a significant percentage of kids.
I loved school except for having to get up early. I loved it straight through grad school. I am now a bit older and always looking for something to go back and take classes in, but don’t really find anything which interests me at this point. I went summers in college and finished a year early.
Summers I would read as there was no school. The library had a reading program where you were suppose to read maybe 10 books – I would finish them all the first week.
I have never been sure why kids don’t like school. It is a place to go on your own (very grownup thing to do) and something to do every day.
Should read, I wish it were longer. Clearly she still needs more of that school time. You would only use “was” when referring to a specific single point in time.

Lil’ Miss Goody-twoshoes. I’m with Baldo. His sister is quite irritating.

I’ll take the sister as she will be someone and Baldo will be proud of her.

It is less collateral damage and more of a benefit.

She has big plans for such a little girl. To be an astronaut and later president. Sh already has the brains for it. Now for the experience.
