Churchy forgot his pirate hat. (As long as you asked, Churchy LaFemme was one of the featured characters in Walt Kelly’s Pogo comic strip, one of the very few strips that was at least the equal of Her Maj. I’ll assume that the last panel here is a passing reference to Terry Pratchett;s Discworld – you can look that one up.)
The concept of an infinite regression of turtles bracing the world is common to several mythological systems, including those of Hindus and Native American. Plus, always like me some Pogo references!
J2P2: Yes, I did. I drew him digitally. Took forever, and I’m still not happy with the final product. But I wanted this storyline to end and that was the best joke to do it with.
After reading Terry Pratchett for a few months I tried to get serious with “a Brief History of time” Didn’t get through page one before I was back to “turtles all the way down!” Got my biggest Pratchett laugh from Stephen Hawking!

Well, something made this mess. And something ain’t sayin’. And anyway - Genesis sucked once Peter Gabriel left.

Pab, did you draw Churchy? If so, you should draw more often!
Love the gag, as usual.

“Turkles all the way down”? Is the author of The Second Self one of them?

Was the Earth/Turtle idea expressed in a obscure 60s musical called The King and I?
