A dachshund would never make Dad come to a school play.

First graders putting on a play is a spectacular exercise in unintentional improv!

Calvin worked hard, and so did mom making the costume. The least dad can do is be there to watch

Dear, he might grow up to be an actor. Wouldn’t that make you proud?

    .

Well, based on the way I’ve seen actors acting in public, no, that would horrify me.

Reminds me of Barney Fife and the Preamble to the Constitution.

What happened to “give ’em a little soft shoe and make something up”?

I would have preferred to be working than being onstage in a school production.

The “great drama” will be about who remembers their lines and who doesn’t. And Dad just knows that Calvin will be the greatest, and most imaginative, dramatist of the lot.

Step up to the plate Dad. That is what fathers are supposed to do.

Dad needs lessons in being a supportive parent. Perhaps he came from a similar environment … a dysfunctional father.

@ Leading: My vote for worst film ever is “Zontar the Thing From Venus”. That one was so bad, it got picked up by Son of Svengoolie.

General comment to anyone: back in the day when Marlon Brando was a struggling unknown, he did a stage show where he was one of several soldiers who stood center stage, each holding a spear and delivering a soliloquy. When it was his turn to speak, he completely went blank, totally unable to remember his lines. Story has it, he lunged forward with his spear and went “HAH!”

He was the only one to receive applause.

I’ve been in a few school plays but the one I remember the most was a Chinese New Year play.

My line was “The Year of the Ram sounds better”

Oh, come on, Dad. You should sit down with Calvin and help him learn his line. He’s got something positive about school that he’s actually interested in. Time to encourage him.
