The nice thing about the metric system is that not only is it founded on a simple base-10 system, but different unit types are correlated, using water as the connection where a connection is not inherent. So, while wondering about the weight of something in terms of distance makes little sense, one can talk about weight in terms of volume if one assumes that the density of the object in question is equivalent to that of water. Given that people have a density that is only slightly less than water, to say that Flo “weighs”, say, 80 liters or 80 dm^3 would not be too absurd. If somebody asks about the area or volume of something in terms of a distance, then one could infer that it was a simple slip of the tongue and that the person meant to say square ____ or cubic ____. SO… perhaps Flo is actually being quite savvy, asking how much she weighs in cubic kilometers; if she actually weighs an unflattering 80kg, then she “weighs” a microscopic 80 trillionths of a cubic kilometer. She deserves to give herself a treat at lunch!
…here in western Canada, we don’t measure distance in miles OR kilometers, we measure it in Time. For example, Gimli is about 1.25 hours from Winnipeg. Brandon is about 4 hours from Winnipeg. Straight driving, (counting a quick stop at the border) Yellowstone Park is about 13 hours from Winnipeg :)…
I’d have learned the metric system if the US of A had changed years ago. I think it would have been a better system being based on 10 but alas we are stuck with what we’ve got!

How far is from London to Preston in kilograms?

With that build, if she’s average height, I’m guessing about a dozen stone.

So where did Flo attend primary school?

Kilometers are to measure her circumference.

Ahh Poor Flo’s gonna take some time ta get “The hang of it”.

Is this perhaps a repeat from the time Britain went metric?

That “Slimming Club” sign came in awfully handy, or I would’ve thought it was a “Fattening Club”!

You could probably measure Andy in Liters!

You educational types have to fill in Andy………… I’m sure he’ll be very interested.

In the future, we’ll go back to base twelve.

I’m a stocky build which is genetic so I’m not a fan of the BMI system. But I’m healthy. That’s all that should really matter.
