I remember both Ben-Gay &P P. Don’t remember any ads & today’s Grand Rapids Press has NO ads in tne first 6 pages of comics section, the remaining 4 pages are the puzzle pages…I’m grateful for the little joys in life !!
I’m Canadian and turned 60 a couple of months ago. I don’t recall the local rag running ads in the comics section, but then that paper has been “strange” in their handling of cartoons for a long time. The comics sections I have in my (very) small collection are from the Star Weekly (the Saturday magazine section of the Toronto Star turned into a magazine for the rest of Canada) and they did have ads, but often those ads were for Canadian companies. All of which is a long way of telling you that I don’t remember the Ben-Gay/Peter Pain ads either.
I remember the ads well. FWIW I was reading them inthe funnies in South Texas. (Since some did not see the adsand others did, I suspect that it may be locale related.)My age is currently 75.

This one sure brings back the memories. I’ll bet no one under 60 knows about Peter Pain and the Ben-Gay ads in the Sunday funnies.
