Joe Shlabotnik must have been hanging out with the Great Pumpkin. Chuck’s anguish in the last panel is reminiscent of Linus’ in the pumpkin patch every Halloween.
CB is not having a great holiday break..First the chair lift accident and now a no show from his favorite player. Just another one of those weeks for our poor round headed kid..
Paul Simon originally wanted the line to be, “Where have you gone, Mickey Mantle?” Mickey was his hero, and had even asked Simon why he didn’t put him in the song. Simon replied that the syllables weren’t right, so he opted for Joe DiMaggio. Too bad, Mick.
We now officially entered the 1970’s for the third time in the strip’s rerun syndication, only 10 years until we get to the 1980’s and twenty more years until we are officially in the 1990’s

Not nice turning off the lights while people are still sitting there.

I am amazed at how many people in fact comment on these strips. It must be slow minds or shut-ins with little else to do.

I noticed that somebody posted a spoiler here but I’m not reading it.
Kind of wish people wouldn’t do that. Just saying…
