who would love that grouch? (by whom I mean Stan, not Peter)

To hate somebody is a waste of time and energy – and giving that person too much attention.

Be careful and polite and ignore that jerk as far as possible.

Unfortunately, you can’t ignore your neighbors completely…

I dunno…. I guess it’s just me….

I never see Stan as actually hateful, just sarcastic….

and I read Peter’s line tonight as deadpan humor.

They stand outside and talk to each other several times a week….

at least every Wednesday, and we sometimes see them on Sunday or Monday.

Would they do that if they actually didn’t like each other?

Seems to me they’re friends who enjoy trading gibes,

People make the same judgement about Peggy…

and for those who read Pickles, about Opal too.

I see both Peter and Peg, and Earl and Opal, as affectionate couples,

who think it’s funny to sling barbs….

even if they pretend, for humor’s sake, that they don’t like it….

or give right back, in kind.

BTW… no question yet from Tony…..

and in answer to a different sort of question from yesterday:

Bev is, indeed, taking care of her mother, who just got out of the hospital….

She’s not there full time, but running back and forth every day

and taking her to appointments,

running errands, etc,

in addition to her own busy life.

She’s not posting anywhere else…

but she’s still upset with GoComics.

I’m encouraging her to come back,

cos to me, it’s about the friendships, and the comics themselves,

and not the rules and format.

We’ll see, especially when her mother gets better.

Its a hate/like relationship between guys, they both need critiquing in order to understand things in their world!!!

I’m Stan.

On a sad note, I’m asking for a couple of prayers for my friend. She lost her companion, best friend, guide and service dog Monday. She will be lost until she adjusts to his absence.

Hate is a strong word.

Who’s meaner? Stan, A Junkyard Dog, or The Grinch?

I, too, like Stan. I would love to banter with him on occasion. There’s always a hint of humor in what he says. And I always enjoy the conversations with Peter and him.
