That reminds me of an English test that I had where I was supposed to use words correctly in a sentence. I did the whole test using sentences such asâŠ
Run is used as a noun in this sentence. Needless to say, my teacher was not amused.
Why not blame a teacher and the education departments, as well? Too may teachers today teach to a test, in part the legacy of âno child left behindâ. They do not have the time to instruct todayâs children nor do they have the backbone to stand up to the âeducatorsâ and tell them that the educators are wrong.
Education is no longer a learning process in many schools. It is making sure that that X% of students in Grade Y pass test after test. How can children learn under such circumstances?
I have some school books that were used in the NYC schools during the 1880 and 1890âs, with all the âadvancesâ in education these 120 years or so I do not think todayâs school children could pass a test from these books. Yet my grandfather and his brothers and sisters all managed to learn from these books; they graduated elementary and high school. My grandfather went on to graduate from college in 4 years, as did my mother and me.
Somehow, we learned, why isnât that possible today?

That goes along with my 5-year-oldâs favorite joke lately:
