You can’t see my hands now, but I think you know these famous gestures by these quotes: “I caught a Pokemon!” “Live long and prosper.”

Issue an ultimatum; see what happens.

Even at a tender age, young Lawrence understood “best friends” differently from the other boys…

There’s room enough for Gordon. Don’t worry, Lawrence. Michael’s still your BFF. Poor guy, can’t catch a break.

@ocean17 - really now, that’s a stretch. Does everything have to be tied to Lawrence being gay?

I think he is WAY over reacting. Who says you can only have one BF?

And who said that kids aren’t cruel the other day?

I was late reading GoComics yesterday, and flagged 3 minute old spam at 11:00 pm Central. That must have been some of the late in the day repostings you mentioned.

I can see why Lawrence is over-reacting. Micheal comes from a home where he is loved and accepted and thus can accepted others as friends. Lawrence comes from a home where he is the center of his mom’s affection until a available man comes into the picture. Then he is shipped off to Micheal’s house while his mom try’s to make the guy into a daddy. Thus Lawrence can’t see how he can have more than just one friend. And maybe I’m reading too much into a comic strip.

newworldmozart you probably are reading too much into it, but things often seem far more serious to children than they do to adults. suddenly having to share a friend with someone new CAN be scary to a kid.

Some people will back down when you give them ultimatums and do what you demand they do … and others will get their backs up and do the exact opposite of what you want them to do (even if it’s not something they really want to do at all) — just to show you that you can’t make what seems like silly, unreasonable demands on them and get away with it.

That’s the only way to handle an ultimatum like that. Once you give in, the other person’s completely in control from then on. Sooner or later you’re going to have to refuse, so you might as well get it over with.

Ha! If Michael doesn’t respond to his Mother’s ultimatums, what makes Lawrence think that he is gonna make that work?

Hey! Where was that spanking strip when we were talking about corporal punishment… :D

“I am sharing! I’m giving her the wrappers!” (Classic!)
