Heh. That reminds me of when my brother and I (college age) hiked up Taos Canyon with my Aunt Frances (when she was 81). She was pointing out birdcalls and strolling along; we were bushed!

Why use poles with snowshoes? Here in the Great White North our arms are used to carry a rifle or geophysical gear.
