I don’t know why the reindeer would be so happy. Since the Arctic Pipeline was built, the Deer population has increased dramatically. The heat given off by the pipeline has increased the forage during the winter, resulting in more animals surviving.
The whole drilling thing wouldn’t be wonderful because of the ecological disruption but if it actually benefited the United States citizens I could grudgingly get behind it. Unfortunately, like the Alaskan pipeline, it won’t be sold in the US and reduce prices in the US, it will be sold to the Asian markets to improve the bottom line of the oil industry – you know, the guys the taxpayers subsidize in addition to getting your eyes screwed out at the pump?
