    Ever since my Tandy TX1000 x286 I’ve known about the CSD chip in all computers and printers. The Critical Stress Detector (CSD) chip remains dormant until you are either stressed or in desperate need for the computer or printer to work. Then at the most inopportune time, it kicks in and causes slowdowns, lock-ups and/or complete shutdowns; depending on your level of stress and/or the importance of the function. Never, ever let your computer or printer know how important the function being done. Never.

    Hmm, my computerized sewing machine is the same. The more I need to finish a garment for a particular purpose, the more likely it is to suddenly need a trip to the repair shop. And then people wonder why I kept my old mechanical machine.
