Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis for February 04, 2017
February 03, 2017
February 05, 2017
Transcript:
Rat: How far in advance do you have to do your comic strip?
Stephan: Four weeks. But I work really diligently on staying over six months ahead.
Rat: Life must be easier when you have no friends.
Stephan: Huge time-saver.
Kind of difficult to make friends when you’re constantly fantasising about a rat, a pig and a goat… with a croc and zebra or two thrown in for variety.
We all know that “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” So in what is destined to go down in the history books as a heroic at of selfless patriotism a few of us are going to have to lay down our lives to be kamikaze “friends” with Pastis. This madness that is PBS must stop before even more innocent comic strip readers develop PTSD. Now who is with me in volunteering to befriend Pastis so he doesn’t have the time to write his little comic (and I use that term loosely) strip?
I’m Angry! I’m an Angry Scientist! SheepInTheBigCityGuy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ao4WTcMtY8 (Not mad scientist) Sheep In The Big City cartoon
I dunno, once you’re six months ahead, you still only have to do one strip a day to stay there. It’s not like he does six months’ every day.(Just feels like it.) :-)
The social life of an introvert is filled with designated quiet.
But we all know how Cartoon-Boy hops around the country, selling his wares (so to speak) and delighting easily-pleased crowds of PBS fans, living the playboy (with a lower-case “p”) lifestyle!

There was a claim on this site that Bill Amend had hurt Pastis’s feelings when Paige made a comment about Pearls not being a good comic.
I don’t see how, considering that Pastis says far worse things about himself and his own comic weekly.
