What I fear is the push to automate the long distance trucking industry. The idea is to make driverless trucks with a trucker sleeping in the back of the cab between cities.
Goober = peanut. I do not ride in a car with no back doors, if I have to be in the back seat. We almost got hit be a gentleman of a certain age (should know better) who came rocketing off the side walk into the lane we were driving in, having to make a hard right hand turn to avoid T-boning our car. I think T-boning a car on a bike, with no helmet would have been disastrous. Scared me and my husband.

Dave Bowman says don’t computer-automate the doors.

The only thing that I’m against is that these vehicles will have no steering wheels.

Stuff I’ve witnessed in the past few weeks or so…
7000 lb SUV less than 10 feet from the rear bumper of a 2000 lb compact at 70 mph.
Driver in heavy Interstate traffic with a book open on her steering wheel.
Merging onto a 65 mph highway at 45 mph, with a dozen cars behind him.
Cellphone. (quod erat demonstrandum)
I really look forward to robocars, cause y’all can’t drive!

You’ll still need a driving licence.

The jerks in the Subaru WRX’s and the BMW’s are going to drive the robo-cars nuts as the weave through traffic at 25 mph over the speed limit.

I think the way traffic is these days, most cars are driverless!
Or, maybe it’s the drivers are clueless…

Locally we have a problem that will test these things – horses & buggies. I can see the mortality rate of horses climb along with the human rate.

OK—the “Goober” car made me laugh. And, I’m with today’s comic’s point—along with many of the commentators.
