Oh, brother. I hate how people say there is no such thing as a truly selfless act of kindness. OK, yes. You feel good after. But that is not your main reason for performing the act of kindness! You primary reason, the only one that really counts, is that you care about someone and want to do something nice for them. And of course, you’re going to feel good if they’re happy. How can you NOT feel good? It’s impossible. Don’t forget that some people’s acts of kindness are also spat upon. The act was still kind and selfless. But you also feel kind of rotten when it’s rejected.

love that this is with a donor. I am a 25 gallon donor (platelets) and everyone always says how proud they are of me. But I’m always conflicted because I know what I do serves a greater good, but I really like the feeling of doing something for the greater good.
