I worked a factory called Teleco, 2nd shift in an out building. Phone rings and someone starts yelling at me about his phone service. We had nothing to do with phones.
I once had someone that kept texting me thinking I was someone else. Fortunately it was never anything personal or embarresing, just general information and questions about what the person was doing. One morning I was getting ready for work and another text message came through and I decided to try calling her back and actually got through for once. I explained to her that she’d been texting the wrong number and she couldn’t believe it, in spite of the fact that she didn’t recognize my voice and could see the number. The texts finally stopped after that.

Don’t you kind of miss the Yellow Pages book? Caller should look into it.

If he calls one more time, answer it as Fred’s Fish Fry and then take his order. Say it’ll be ready in 15 minutes.

This was a problem during the days of party lines. If you answered somebody else’s ring, you got somebody else’s call.
