Just finished painting a bathroom. Painting was a breeze. Cleaning up was a breeze. Masking before hand was a royal pain! Too many zigs and zags and things in the way.
Disposable paint pan liners and just removing the excess paint from the roller and then discarding the roller instead of cleaning it will save time and lots of water. I used to be a professional painter so time was money but even when I was no longer a painter I realized that the rollers don’t cost enough to justify the amount of water and time that it takes to clean one out. If I need to use it 2 days in a row I leave it in the pan with paint and put it inside a garbage bag and seal it well. No problem leaving it overnight for use the next day. Come clean up time though, scrape off excess and trash it.
Hah! It does indeed seem to warp the fabric of time, so 180% seems a more realistic estimate for that horrendous task. But, I agree that the TAPING is even more arduous, and I also agree with the idea of disposable pan liners and tossing the rollers when finished….. with that in mind, taking all those “time saving” measures into account, it may be only 130% instead of 180% :) .

That’s 180% of the whole chore.

But he’s darned if he’ll pay a painter to do what he can mess up himself!

I think the paint has the better end of the job because it takes less time to dry and be done for the day.
