When my nephew was 5 he had a bad reaction to the required shots before he entered school and spent several weeks at home recovering. The neighbor boy (a teenager) taught him how to play checkers. One day he was visiting my nephew for a game and my sister heard a cry of joy from her son’s room and saw the neighbor boy come out, jumping in victory and crying, “I finally won a game.” My nephew was a double major in college.

It’s okay Roger, I’m not great at chess either. But of course, I also don’t challenge people online.

In chess there is no luck. That is the least important in the game. Try winning at checkers first. I don’t play much myself but chess is interesting.

Timmy would probably beat me at chess too… but I do play a mean hand at klondike solitaire.
