My father still has his mother’s cedar chest. It’s full of memories too (all sorts of clothes and quilts and the like).

I have a few small things of my grandmother’s, but they don’t take up an floor space, I happy to say. I’ll be passing them on to my granddaughter, when she’s old enough to appreciate them.

How sappy.

Aren’t oriental chests usually multi-colored?

I have a small carved pine box that belonged to my father and is going to my grandson someday. I also have a cedar chest filled with photo albums, some photos are over 100 years old. I also have a series of postcards written and mailed between 1903 and 1905.

At least it’s not full of English Sheepdog fur. (since she raised them for sale, at home)

JPUZZLEWHIZ – No they are not multi-colored. Mostly, they are carved wood in the natural color. You’ve been watching too many cheesy movies!

I have the chest my father made my mother for a wedding gift. I hope my children appreciate that and keep it! Made in 1922.

What a great thing to leave to Elly. I’d love something like this. She’ll always treasure it.
