There’s a program that some Amazon sellers use that prices a book a penny above the nearest in price, on the thought that more expensive conveys that it’s worth more and makes it more desirable. When two of those sellers have their computers competing against each other and they don’t notice it—that’s when you see books at $999.99. My ten-year-old one only got up to two grand, briefly. Good for a laugh.
