Ripley was just getting to the length of the sidewalk, but he took a lunch break. When he got back, he found his secretary had already sent in the unfinished page for final print.

“The 1929 Ruby Red patent was associated with real commercial success, which came after the discovery of a red grapefruit growing on a pink variety. The Red grapefruit, starting with the Ruby Red, has even become a symbolic fruit of Texas, where white “inferior” grapefruit were eliminated and only red grapefruit were grown for decades” Seems to me 1929 predates WWII by a few years

Likewise “Peppermint was discovered in the modern era, in about 1700 when the English biologist, John Ray, discovered the herb in an English garden. This new creation was the product of Water Mint (Menthae aquatica) and Spearmint (Menthae spicata). In comparison to other mint varieties, Peppermint has special medicinal powers.”

Actually the longest continuous sidewalk in the world is Seawall Boulevard, located in Galveston, Texas along the Galveston seawall, which is 10.3 miles (about 16.6 km) long. Bayshore Boulevard is 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long, is 10 feet (3.0 m) wide.
