Vampire: Ah, but we've recruited a player with lots of experience defeating extraterrestrials. Alien: Buck Rogers! Klaatu: No -- it's Flash Gordon! Vampire: Actually, you're both right. It's a reanimated and rejuvenated Buster Crabbe. Man: Are there any swimming events? I don't get it alert! Buster Crabbe played both Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers in movie serials in the 1930s. His main qualification for movie-hero status was being an Olympic gold medalist in swimming -- like Johnny Weissmuller. Johnny who...? Sigh -- just Google it.

I didn’t need the Alert, I knew who Buster Crabbe was and Johnny Weissmuller were, (only through reruns on cable though). Great way to start the morning feeling old, and I agree with Plods, Johnny was the best Tarzan ever.

I never missed a Johnny Weissmuller, Tarzan movie back in the mid to late 40s. I really identified with the character. It even inspired me to become a good swimmer! Boy do I feel old!
