This is what the republicans in the House saved us from.
Admitting those with a criminal record might bring in more students — although that is not guaranteed, since many are not that studious — but might drive off current students if the new ones prey upon them. Women get really touchy about going to class with convicted rapists and killers.
A partial solution would be to keep it a secret so they don’t suspect the guy “walking them back to their dorm” at night. Lots of people favor hiding criminal records from judgmental and/or fearful citizens.
