If I discarded it, I wouldn’t have it any longer.
Nothing gets discarded in my patch of paradise. It all gets passed on to someone else for reuse or repurposing.
There’s no such thing as second hand ( six or seventh hand is more like it ).
People are glad to receive hand-me-downs.
Giving your neighbor or someone in your family, clothing you no longer wear, is taken as a compliment.

I’ve been known to do that — put out the second-oldest clothes for Goodwill and continue to wear the really tatty stuff that nobody would pay money for!
