Woman: Well, well, well. Jeff: Yeah, yeah. Woman: So what made you come around? Jeff: Patriotism. Plus my dad dropped the hammer. Said I needed a real job. Woman: Your dad is right. What's he do? Jeff: He's a blogger. Woman: Really? Well, he's still right. Jeff: I know, but it's hard to take from a man in pajamas.

Why did that remark remind me of Hef

Itâs the pajamas marg. But for me, pajamas are more a fashion statement than a quick change to the disheveled bed. Waah, waah, wah!

Belated retort to nighthawks and Weinberg, who call a successful mayor/governor âvillage idiotâ, Iâll also give Albertanâs perspective.
Exhibit A: my dad, PhD (1960) from Columbia U, erstwhile math prof at UCalgaryâbut woefully lacking in knowledge of how things work outside academia, and too trusting of his parents (who didnât really love him, but were all-too-happy to foist much âdutyâ on him).
Exhibit B: âKingâ Ralph Klein, erstwhile Calgary mayor and Alberta Premier (admittedly one neighbourhood of this city exceeds Wasilia, and the cityâs total populationâat Kleinâs moving from Mayor to Premier, around 730K, now over 1.1 millionâexceeds all Alaska). No degree (he admitted in 1981 mayoral campaign that he was a near-uneducated TV-reporter)âwhose successes include: (*) getting 1988 Winter Olympics, managing logistics thereof well, and generating revenues well after Olympics done-with (*) getting investments for tarsands development and making Canada (specifically Alberta province, which supplies most of oil) to USâ biggest supplier.
Enough said!

Hey, prasrinivara, Iâm a Calgarian. In fact, I lived in Lakeview with Ralph while he was premier. I used to see him walking his dog around the neighborhood, with no visible security whatsoever, usually wearing a ratty jogging suit. That wasnât a pretty sight.

Imagine my surprise when I opened my Chicago Tribune today, and saw a strip about Bill Clinton parachuting into President Obamaâs convention acceptance speech⊠(Thatâs a fine paper youâve run straight into bankruptcy there, Sam.)
