Would have been a world class field of three thousand runners if the average was just over two hours. Most marathons have a number of people doing their first, and perhaps only lifetime run in three or four hours. And the world record is 2:02:57, or just over two hours.

What Charlie Fogwhistle said. Must have been an awful short “marathon”

I’m thinking this was a half-marathon. My sister runs them and her average time is just over two hours.

In Vancouver, there is a statue to the first man (Landy) to break the four minute mile – and lose – to Bannister, by one step. A high school kid did it yesterday, and he wasn’t the first. While I can remember when the four hour marathon was broken, I doubt any two hour time has been set.
