    The Grateful Dead, Kevin….

Jerry Garcia … and someone who… hmmm… could maybe be Phil Lesh?

The Walking Dead, cos they just wrecked the car by using patchouli oil instead of motor oil….

Doesn’t really make a lot of sense cos essential oils are sold in tiny vials….

a whole quart of patchouli would have cost many times the price of Valvoline… probably at least $50, even in 1969, vs 69 cents.

And I don’t think Jerry Garcia ever drove anything as snazzy as this ’59 Impala, cos cars were not his thing.

    But hey… it’s a comic.

Making a joke about the quintessential hippy band putting the quintessential hippy oil in their car.

My Dad had a ’59 Chevy. There was a rumor that if you drove too fast the back end of the car would lift off the road because of the airflow through the fins.

Fun Fact: 1959 was one of only 2 post-war years Ford outsold Chevrolet in “the good old days” – the other was 1957! (the “good old days” are counted as the time before the development of ‘niche’ markets for every taste)

I used to have a candy-apple red 1959 Chevy Impala – put in a 327 and added 2 4BBLs to it (gas was cheap back then, you may remember, plus I was young as well as dumb).
