The teacher obviously knew next to nothing about the origin of the Graham cracker. It was designed by the Reverend Sylvester Graham, a minister and social reformer who felt that an unhealthy diet led to sexual excess. Yup – celibacy crackers.
The teacher was clearly wrong to down-grade Petey’s diorama just because s/he (the teacher) considers Graham’s achievement to be “trivial”: a reckless and unwarranted value-judgment! Think how many generations have lived by or at least with the graham cracker!
