As much as I like cilantro, I think I don’t fall under the 14% of “soap-taste.” As for the Russian Pepsi flood, as much as I like Pepsi, I think I’d be awake for a few days without a night’s sleep.
I heard that Miss Shelley and friends were inside due to the cold weather caused by Tambora volcano eruption. I grew cilantro once and had to pull it out, I could not stand the smell of the flowers.
The only thing to do when faced with such a fizzy deluge is try to knockdown the Vodka factory on the other side of town and go wait in the middle with some friends with empty glasses.. Voila! it’s cocktail time!
The first time I tasted cilantro I hated it. Just a dab will do it. Now I like it.The first time I tasted pizza the cheese tasted like soap. I wouldn’t eat it for years. A ripe Avocado has a delicious buttery taste, just add a dash of lemon pepper and spread it on toast … YUM!
50 years ago there once was a soap that my parents bought (?Woodruff? brand but could not find that in the dictionary so maybe it is not made anymore) that smelled like the herb. It was “hard milled” so it didn’t get soggy with use. But that smell imprinted in my mind as the soap idea so that when I had some south Asian food made with that herb the connection was made.

That reminds me of the Great Molasses Flood in Boston on January 15, 1919. It killed 21 people and injured another 150.

It turns out that molasses can move pretty darn fast in January after all.

Due to genetics some people can’t taste the difference between Coca Cola & Pepsi.

I tried cilantro once, I didn’t think it tasted like soap, I thought it tasted like dirt.

If only Chipotle understood and didn’t make cilantro so hard to avoid.

You lose, Mary Shelley. Frankenstein’s monster may qualify as undead, but he’s no ghost.
