Relay race? Five-leged race? Human race? No, not that last one, for at least two reasons.

Nobody should go home a loser.

There are board games now where all the players cooperate so they can all win, or lose, the game together. Forbidden Island, Forbidden Desert, and Pandemic are the most popular.

It really is okay to have games where someone wins and someone loses. Phoebe could work on her chess.

Games like Dungeons & Dragons (or whatever analog Max plays) are frequently intended to have no losers. Of course, for a game everybody wins, the best is Shel Silverstein’s hug-o’-war!

There’s a reason I like one-player video games. I may win or lose, but at least the opponent won’t care.
