I see kids wearing helmets with loose straps like that all the time, and that’s exactly what happens – just before hitting the ground, the helmet whiplashes off the head. I was an ice-hockey referee and I’ve seen it. Same for bicycles.
The idea is cute, but, more realistically (I know, the whole premise is unrealistic), the mouse’s skull would be crushed. It would not be a pretty sight.
