When I lived in NY I took the parkway that ran past Laguardia Airport. The planes seemed so close passing over, that I would check the car roof for tire tracks.
When landing in Austin Texas years ago, on final approach going very low down some city street, you could look in kitchen windows and see ladies preparing dinner.

That looks about right.. the average commercial jet’s tire tread width is about 20 inches.
