Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Crankshaft – I used to ride the bus, get into the movies, watch a double feature and a cartoon, buy a bag of popcorn, and take the bus home, all for a quarter!
GATURRO: While the owner of the mansion goes off to look for her cat Elizabeth, Gordo marvels at the mansion’s silk curtains and the marble art, the china porcelain (?), the Victorian furniture…and the “butlers everywhere!” Gordo says something like, “Gaturro, get married and WE are saved.” And G. responds, “I do not understand the WE (Nos)…he is bringing ME the robe, the caviar and the champagne….”
CRANKSHAFT/FUNKY W: Both stories today are about the Valentine Movie Theater. I predict a crossover…perhaps a preview of a new Starbuck Jones movie at the Valentine…………..
Mary Worth – Well, there’s the new (probably doomed) love interest.
Rex Morgan – Will Margie be asking for help? Education, job, or just money?
Phantom – How can you outdraw someone who is already pointing a gun at you?
Crankshaft – So several years in the future, the Valentine restoration is complete and doing well enough that the people from the Funky strip can have a big movie premier there.
Mary Worth I also agree that Ned is the new (probably inappropriate) love interest.
Funky/Crankshaft Yes, crossover coming. And Marvee is probably right, it will be a big movie premier there. By the way, I don’t quite remember movies being a dime, but one summer when I was about 9 or 10, the local Fox theater had a summer special that was one ticket for each Saturday during the summer, sold as a block. The average cost per ticket was a quarter so my mom bought a block each for my younger brother and me. We saw a lot of movies that summer! (By the way, that theater was torn down after an extended battle over whether or not it was a historical landmark, but that’s another story.)
Gaturro I see the artist “fig leafed” the miniature David statue. Remind me sometime to tell you about the full sized one outside the “Movieland Wax Museum” in Buena Park. There was quite a controversy about that fig leaf.
003JANCINLV : I remember when the movies were a dime on a Saturday afternoon and you got two movies, a serial and the news. Then the war came along and they put a one cent tax on it.

No es “nos”, señor, sino “me.”

PHANTOM: Looks like it’s Hero’s turn to take this guy out.
REX MORGAN: Margie has had everything happen to her in all those years. What made her take so long to find June?
MARK TRAIL: It’s good to see someone doing something instead of complaining about the weather.
MARY WORTH: New story, I wonder how long this will take?

@Woodworker: Because she only began subscribing to the town newspaper about a year ago when both babies were born.

GATURRO P.S. – But let’s not forget that Gaturro’s heart belongs to Agatha!
MARY WORTH: @ marvee – I agree that young Doctor Ned will be Dawn’s new love interest. I’m not sure about the “doomed” part….. :-)
