I’ve read some collections of old-time comic strips, and I think “Snuffy Smith” should turn back into “Barney Google.” It was a far superior comic strip.
To be accurate, Snuffy Smith wasn’t a spin-off of Barney Google. It was just an example of the very common phenomena of supporting characters taking over strips and having the original strips’ names changed to reflect the change. John Kennedy pointed out some of them. Monty from Robotman is another.

This will probably go the way of Assignment: Earth.
