This is all so close to the truth, itā€™s scary.

We needed FDR. I fear we got Carter.

No, we got Clinton-lite. Carter didnā€™t compromise, didnā€™t have a major economic bomb on his hands or two preposterous wars or a party that was more interested in in-fighting, either. Clinton was willing to give in on nafta and other destructive Rep. plans that killed the country slowly.

What issues has Obama given into that are backed by the GOP? The failure to negotiate has been on the part of the Dems. Their control of both houses, including a filibuster proof lead in the Senate, meant that they didnā€™t have to give any ground to the GOP and they didnā€™t. The only ground they gave was to each other to get a bunch of pork into bills that the huge majority of Americans didnā€™t want in the first place.

Yes, Iā€™m sure most Americans cherish the right to go bankrupt when they canā€™t pay their medical bills due to preexisting conditions. Some will have others fight and die for that right. Most Americans, too, are scared to take away the rights of corporations to outsource their jobs. Many independents will be pulling the lever for their tea party heroes for just that purpose in a little over two weeks. Come to think of it ā€˜the huge majorityā€™ of Americans arenā€™t too bright to begin with and getting dumber all the time. Good luck with that.

The Democrats have never really had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, thanks to a few Senators always being willing to side with the Republicans. A very few, such as Nelson and Lincoln, have thwarted the will of the majority of not only the Democratic party but the majority of Americans. Of course, they couldnā€™t have done it without the unwavering solid opposition of the repubs to moving the country forward. A better demonstration of the power of money in politics canā€™t be found.

Speaking of medical bills, here is my fear of ObamaCare. I recently switched to HMO from my PPO that I have had for years. Suddenly I have a doctor I have never meet judging my medical condition. I hurt my back and after 2 treatments this ā€œdoctorā€ declared me cured and stopped covering my treatments. My regular physician is still trying to get more visits for me and I am calling daily but the ā€œdoctorsā€ decision is final. Oh, and my doctor only got paid $25 for both of those visits. Didnā€™t even cover the cost of the materials used. He will be dropping HMO coverage at the end of the year. ObamaCare will be the same thing as the HMO only worse and you canā€™t prove to me otherwise. People have tried (even my friends from Europe where ObamaCare basically came from canā€™t argue against my facts). Just my two cents.

Matthew Hanna I feel for you but donā€™t know what ā€œfactsā€ you are giving. All Iā€™ve heard is your personal experience. I have had several personal experiences with insurance as well ā€“ long before President Obama came into office. My insurance has steadily gotten more expensive and covered less with higher co-pays. My company moved around to different insurance companies, but it just gets worse. This is entirely unrelated to the health care legislation, pitiful though it is. I DO like the fact that insurance companies (which have been making record profits, so none of this ā€œwe have to raise rates thanks to ObamaCareā€ garbage. They only want more money) canā€™t dump you if you get sick and canā€™t claim pre-existing conditions. Everyone should love that.

Iā€™ve lived in other countries with single payer - it IS better by far, and it costs everyone less on average.
