Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
An instant classic! This joke could lead to a blustery ad pitchâ â.. in fact the only thing in the store not marked down is the âupâ escalator!â
Sorry for the rerun, but Mallwart still makes me want to share Jonathan Richmanâs plaintive tribute to the old days of retail, âCorner Storeâ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR0-HtQJMcM&feature=fvw
Isnât âdown escalatorâ an oxymoron just like âdown elevator?â One of those should logically be called a deprecator, but no one seems to have thought of that.
I donât mind old jokesâ or old songs, old recipes, old plays or old tricksâ as long as they are done well! Anyway, this one is new to me and gave me a smile.
Eldo Disc Golf and imrobert, I like Jonathanâs quirky enthusiasm and sincerity. Never saw him in person! My favorite album is Jonathan Goes Country, which contains the song I linked to.
Old tricks? I absolutely LOVE old tricks. Old jokes, too. Sorry if I ruined this one for you.
Iâve made a career of old tricks, in a way. Iâm using stuff that was created in the 1920âs in many cases, with up-to-date story lines. Thatâs kinda what this GA strip is all about today, isnât it?
I recall going to see the Modern Lovers back in the old days. I always found his voice a bit irritating, but the songs were GREAT!
There was a show back in upstate New York. It was pretty much a bar. J.R. & The M.L. opened for the Talking Heads. The opening act killed the headliners.
Even in those daysâŠ..the days of The Shirts and the days of Richard Hell & The VoidoidsâŠâŠ.quality still won out. Does that happen today? And I guess that I just donât know.

Someone ought to dump Gertie and let Joel and Rufus be the caretakers for Uncle Walt. NOT!

Jonathan Richman! Wow, that takes me back. I have his first two albums. He used to be a fixture around the clubs in the SF Bay Area in the 70s

I suspect that this joke was old when I heard Milton Berle tell it about 40 years ago.
âMy wife will buy anything thatâs marked down. Last week she brought home three escalators.â
Ah, but recycling is good for the planet, right?
